Lionic DPI delivered a complete feature set needed for a robust UTM: IPS, Anti-Virus, Anti-WebThreat, Application Visibility and Control, Web Content Filtering, Device Fingerprinting, and Quality of Service. Beyond security, the engine could integrate with fast-path acceleration on the company’s hardware, ensuring high performance.
To meet the unique needs of the Japanese market, the company collaborated with well-known third-party providers for threat intelligence and local website categorization. Lionic’s flexible architecture allowed these external data sources to be fully integrated at both the cloud and signature levels, working seamlessly with Lionic’s own database. This customization ensured the company’s proprietary cloud management service could operate efficiently while maintaining complete control over the DPI engine.
RESULTS
The UTM product launched successfully, allowing the company to offer a complete security solution without investing heavily in R&D. Building on this success, the DPI engine was later deployed into the company’s VPN router line, adding advanced network features and security. Lionic DPI enabled the company to enter the security market efficiently, delivering tailored solutions for the Japanese market while maintaining high performance and deep feature integration.
