VISION
A multi-state broadband provider in North America set out to strengthen their home internet offering by delivering built-in parental controls and network security through their customer premises equipment. Their vision was to help families manage online activities safely and conveniently, without requiring technical expertise or additional installations.
VISION
CHALLENGES
At first, the provider partnered with a well-known desktop antivirus company to deliver security features. However, this approach had a critical limitation: it required end users to install additional antivirus software on their personal devices. Parental control features were also missing, leaving families without comprehensive protection at the network level.
To fill this gap, the provider later integrated a second solution from another vendor, which offered both parental control and security capabilities built into their newer CPE line. But the solution came with its own problems: limited flexibility, lack of customization, and platform restrictions led to inconsistent user experiences across different devices. These inconsistencies not only impacted customer satisfaction but also increased support complexity and operational overhead.
SOLUTION
Looking for a scalable and consistent approach, the provider turned to Lionic’s DPI engine as a unified alternative to both previous vendors. By embedding Lionic’s technology across their firmware stack, they were able to consolidate parental control and security features into a single, tightly integrated solution.
Lionic’s modular architecture allowed them to selectively enable different features depending on the capability of each device, covering both legacy and new CPE platforms. In addition, the provider leveraged Lionic’s flexible API and management design to build a cloud-based control interface tailored to their brand and service goals, ensuring a seamless and intuitive user experience.
RESULTS
RESULTS
From 2022 to 2024, the provider deployed Lionic’s solution across ten different CPE platforms, replacing both previous integrations. The rollout now serves over 500,000 households and continues to expand. With a consistent feature set, unified interface, and customizable control, the provider successfully streamlined its service offering by reducing integration burdens and delivering a more polished product to end users.
